Leaving Oakland for our flight home to Spokane, the green-hued tarmac, runway and distant lights, and their reflection on the clouds above created three distinct horizontal sections in the view out the airplane window.

Auspicious Cranes
”Going Away, Coming Home” by Chinese-born artist Hung Liu fills a wall of windows in the Oakland airport’s terminal. Based on a 12th Century painting, it offers the traditional blessing of peace and prosperity to the travelers walking by on their way to a connecting flight or to meet family and friends.
