Spring Colors

Even random flowering weeds in the field near our home display a complex beauty in the evening light.

These spikie, vaguely alien-looking flowers caught my attention in Manito Gardens on Spokane’s South Hill one sunny June day.

The little pink flowers in our front yard, including a few bleeding hearts, attract bees and appreciative looks at the end of spring.

The lilac-colored rhododendron in our front garden began to open deep purple buds in late May.

Should a photo give the big picture or zoom in on the details? I opted for the latter in this shot of a tree in our neighborhood in May, while still giving a sense of the rest of the tree.

Is it an apple or a crabapple? Whichever, this tree blooming in our neighborhood was a delicious sight. I enjoy focusing in on one bunch of blooms to highlight their delicate shapes.

How many deep pink blooms can one tree hold? This tree at the entrance to our neighborhood was like a pink beacon along the highway.
